I have read on a blog, Joe's Crabby Shack (which I find is a very informative blog), a question asking my position on Guns. Well to put it as short and sweet as I can, I support the 2nd Amendment. If I am presented with legislation which would erode this amendment I will not support it.
As far as my position on the Castle Doctrine, I support it. For those of you who haven't read about the 'Castle Doctrine', it basically guarantees a victim the right to protect themselves against a criminal attack. If victims choose to stand their ground and fight, their decision will not be second-guessed by the State. More information can be found on the web.

This past weekend was full of events from Gretna to Bellevue. I was able to take in two great firework shows, eat BBQ for most meals, participate in the Gretna Parade, and more importantly meet many wonderful people in district 3. I look forward to meeting and speaking with as many of you as I can as the the campaign rolls on to the General Election November 4th.

My Platform
As your representative in the State Legislature I will bring my proven work ethic, and common sense to Lincoln. I am willing to listen, and to work to understand the issues at hand.
I believe the strength of our state is in its people. I believe that good government should guarantee to its individuals equality before the law
I believe that government should promote the health, welfare, and safety of the individual and that government’s proper function is to do only those things which individuals cannot do for themselves.
My parents, teachers, and coaches instilled the desire to work hard and take pride in a job well done. 20 years service in the United States Air Force further solidified the importance of dedication and devotion to something larger than myself.
I am a conservative and believe in the importance of individual rights and of limited government.
With these principles, I believe I am the candidate for people who desire a positive and responsive government at the state level.

I worked with Scott in the Air Force and I can tell you that you will never wonder what his stance is on something. He isn't one of those mamby pamby, weak wristed hand-shake guys that's for sure. Not hard to spot him in a crowd either:) He stands Head & Shoulders above the rest!
Scott I'll see you at the County Fair.

"I support the 2nd Amendment."
come on Scott!
If you have read much over at the Shack, you would know that statement like that are regarded as worthless.
If you want the gunowners support, then you will have to step up, and get specific.
ljunatic,
To be specific I own a gun and I won't let anybody take it away from me. I will not be party to any effort which would allow my gun to be taken away from me, or any other citizen who lawfully owns a gun.
Now if there is legislation proposed which would even lead to my ownership of a gun to be revoked I will refuse to support it and I will call out the individual or party which is responsible for the effort. I will do all I can and I will rely on resources that keep a watch on these things. At this time I have NO support, financial or otherwise, from any such organization. Regardless of having support I do what I can to stay abreast of what is happening in this arena.
I will be counting on those of you out there to provide a first warning of what is going on. It is all too well known that one person cannot watch all directions at all times. I do believe though that one can Listen to those who are keeping vigilance and then act accordingly. The internet and the blogsphere are redefining how business is being conducted. The rapid means of communication provided by these means now provides an even more important protection from the biased media outlets. Just ask the Senate about the recent immigration issues where the PEOPLE spoke and said NO! Just as in that case I will be looking to hear from you when something is tried by those who would limit the right of the People to keep and bear arms.
And I won't quibble over commas!
Scott;
To answer a query you raised over at The Shack, Pre-emption refers to the state law overriding local, city, or county laws. In Nebraska, pre-emption must be specifically mentioned in a bill or else home rule allows cities to override the law.
That is currently the case with Nebraska's Concealed Carry law. Towns, such as Seward, Plattsmouth and others, have left their city bans in place.
The end result is that someone can be in complete compliance with the law one moment, then be committing a gun crime by crossing an invisible line at the city limits.
It's a hodge-podge of laws that we gun owners do our best to follow, but creates the all-too real possibility of violating the law.
What we are seeking is the passage of a pre-emption act that would make the state CCW law the law of the land... the whole land. There is no reason someone who is deemed safe to carry in Lincoln will become a terror threat whenever he or she drives into Seward.
Your thoughts?
Joe,
Your right it is messy and there are serious consequences with things as they are now. I will be happy to work on a pre-emption act to clarify/clean-up current legislation. This is a clear case of where an elected official needs to listen and act on the desires of the people.
I believe it really can be that simple.
